Luka 15 inch Laptop Backpack

I literally carry anything and everything in order to make sure I have an item "just in case" when traveling and this backpack helped ease my traveling anxiety. It was big enough to carry all my essentials and still be a personal item on the plane. It fit perfectly under the seat which was a relief. Big bonus for me was the color makes it super noticeable it was mine and the luggage trolly strap is wide. I could keep an eye on my backpack along with my suitcase the whole time and with the strap wide enough I wasn't scared it would randomly tear mid airport. Honestly can't wait to add more CALPAK items to my collection!

I purchased this to update my personal item for air travel. I wanted something that was just a big bigger than a 19L capacity Travelpro backpack, but not *much* bigger. The Luka duffel was too big for my needs. I don't use a backpack *as* a backpack, so I need the handle to be comfortable to use. Wanted a padded laptop area and a luggage handle passthrough.

This delivered pretty well on all those options. I got it in the Dragon fruit color, and it matches my other luggage and my vibe really well. The reason I'm not giving it five stars is two things:

1. The passthrough isn't quite wide enough for my luggage. I have to tug a big to get it on and off. I also have to keep the little secret pocket zipper halfway open or else it sits in a place that prevents the passthrough from fitting over the handles. I won't be able to use that pocket as a result. I wish it were just about an inch wider.

2. The straps are extra long and there's no easy way to store them. As a result, they would normally hang down and flap around. I solved this by using a hack I found online -- I have little elastic loops attached to buttons, and I use those to hold the rolled up straps in place. :-) This makes it look super tidy, but I am taking a star off because I had to mod the bag to resolve this issue.

Aside from those two things, I'm pretty happy with it. As a bonus, when I fly, I carry a travel blanket in an oblong compression cube that is almost exactly the same color as this bag. It fits…

I purchase this backpack as a replacement for a heavy, industrial strength one I had that just was not laid out well. All kinds of little tiny pockets everywhere that did not make sense. So many, I forgot where things were. This Calpak backpack is sooo much better. Lighter weight, pockets are well thought out and useful. Plus a sleeve for a water bottle. The only improvement I would suggest is to make the water bottle sleeve expandable. I understand why Calpak would want to stay away from elastic since this can wear rapidly, but perhaps a pleated sleeve with adjustable buckles as are present in the shoulder straps. I have to put the water bottle in the sleeve before packing the center section to be sure I don’t overpack it. Overall, love it!
